Description: The hike begins at the base parking lot and gradually ascends to an elevation of 1594 feet (486 meters). The hiking trail is well marked and except for a few spots is a moderate climb. The trail is a frequent favorite for local hikers. On a daily basis hundreds of people make the climb to enjoy the 360 degree panoramic views of the county of San Diego. The mountain is a part of the protected area known as Mission Trails City Park. All of its native plant life and animal life are protected, including the local species of rattlesnake, which is rarely seen but does exist.
Activity: Hike to the summit and back. Option B: Enjoy a picnic at nearby Lake Murray.
